What You Get From Boot Camp

crowds, audience, fair, festival, hypnosis show
Andie Oswald performs for a nice-sized audience at a Stage Hypnosis Bootcamp in Eugene, Oregon.  Andie had read books and watched videos all his life   He always wanted to “DO” Hypnosis but had never hypnotized anyone before he came to Boot Camp.  So instead, he took Lisa’s one-day induction training, then got on stage and rocked his audiences!

You will perform on stage every day.

You will get coaching with notes   The directors write up notes and review them with you.
We will take photos of you, so you have a good starting promo photo you can use for social media, a postcard, and in your advertising.
We discuss some marketing, creating websites, Social Media pages, and other methods of getting shows – but this is not the focus of Boot Camp.  Instead, our focus is on helping you perform in real-life situations.
Technology is essential – knowing and understanding microphones, headsets, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, receivers, wires, connectors, MP3 players, remotes, wireless systems, and video cameras are all part of this.  Still, one week is never enough to master these things.  However, we do give you a strong introduction.

What will it take for you to participate?

You get access to our Video Boot Camp Training on Vimeo

https://hypnosisbootcamp.info.

We have dozens of shows, by us and others.  We break down the parts of the shows for you.

Before you attend Boot Camp with us, we expect you to know a good induction or transcribe one of our inductions before you come to class, so you have some working knowledge of an induction.

If you choose to use your own induction, that’s fine. However, you will be getting on stage and doing shows, so we really recommend that you have some working knowledge of how to perform an induction.  We will learn the rest together!

Alan wears a suit when doing professional presentations.  However, he wears his “Steampunk-lite” costume when doing shows.

Why do I do what I do?

When Alan first started presenting magic lectures, he knew his material, but he needed to refine his delivery. Watching others helped him refine his style.

Alan began performing comedy stage hypnosis in 1993 and launched his first Boot Camp in 2013. Since then, Alan has run nineteen BootCamps, and Misty has been his partner for eight of these bootcamps. Dozens of students have now joined them — and we continue learning every step of the way.

I began doing comedy stage Hypnosis shows in 1993.  And, starting in 2013, Misty and the SandMan’s Stage Hypnosis Bootcamp, led by Alan, has now run nineteen Bootcamp programs with dozens of students… and I know I can always learn more.

In 1999, Alan attended Jerry Valley’s first stage training, led by Ormond McGill and Shelly Stockwell. Each of these experiences provided us with valuable insights that have shaped our approach to training others.

What sets our BootCamp apart is simple: we coach you by putting you on stage, show after show, day after day. Doctors don’t become doctors by just sitting in lectures—they study, they intern, and then they practice. The same principle applies here.

If you want to be an entertainer, performer, or presenter, you can’t learn it by sitting in a room listening to someone talk. You learn it by doing.

When we started, we read books, studied other performers, took classes—both clinical and stage—and performed wherever we could.  However, we didn’t have a coach or director to provide us with those subtle hints about safety, presence, and effectiveness. That’s the kind of guidance we now offer—so you can step on stage with confidence and skill.

We want you to succeed.

Boot Camp is designed the way I wish I had the opportunity to learn when I began performing.  Half of my alums have asked to come back and participate again—and a few of them have even returned three or four times—so they can continue to improve.  That is my measure of success.  Please, talk to them directly.

These are 12-14-hour days!
This is Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp!
This is not for the faint of heart!  You will do shows!

Our training includes classroom sessions, a smattering of reading, watching videos, and getting on stage – but most of all, you do shows!

county fair, state fair
A fair audience filled with never-before-hypnotized volunteers – you won’t find that in a classroom.  Instead, you will find that day after day at Misty & The SandMan’s Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp.

Entire Solo Shows

With an audience of fresh volunteers, show after the show: no ‘Hypno-junkies’ or fellow students.  You will get old & young volunteers just like you will get in actual shows!  THAT is the only way to learn how to do stage Hypnosis!  You will have both large and small audiences, just as in real life.

As one past student said, “Alan pushes you off the dock and into the water, and you learn how to swim.” However, I am still there and will not let you drown.  I am your lifeguard.

You learn to perform in real shows in the real world.  I have a 100% success rate.

Are you ready to become a stage Hypnosis?  Then The SandMan’s Stage Hypnosis Boot Camp is for you.

It’s time to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Most training sessions pack as many people as possible into a lecture and send them home without ever having performed a whole show, often not even with an audience that has never been hypnotized.

But think about it: would you take a cooking class where you never cooked, or where every ingredient was pre-made?  Of course not.  That’s not how people actually learn.

With us, you don’t just hear about stage Hypnosis—you do it.  We start by giving you the tools: you’ll learn how to use audio and video equipment and understand the structure of a show so you’re fully prepared.  Then, we take you to live fairgrounds, where you’ll get on stage, multiple days in a row, in front of real audiences.

By the end, you won’t just know the theory—you’ll feel the confidence.  You’ll leave saying, “YES, I can do a show!”—because you already have.
